ShieldNest

Terms of use

ShieldNest is a **free matching service** for households and small businesses in the US. We help you learn about a pest problem, understand typical treatment cost ranges, and connect with licensed, state-certified pest control companies near you.

What ShieldNest does — and does not do

ShieldNest is not a pest control company. We do not inspect properties, apply pesticides, diagnose structural damage, or provide pest control, medical, legal, or engineering advice.

What we do is simple: we help you identify common pest issues, share typical cost ranges and general information, and connect you with companies you can consider hiring through our free matching service.

Any price shown on this site is an estimate, not a quote or guarantee. Real pricing depends on the pest, the size and condition of the property, how severe the infestation is, the treatment plan, and your area. For example, many one-time treatments fall around $150-$350, recurring service often runs $45-$120 per visit, rodent control may be $200-$600, termite treatment may be $500-$2,500+, bed bug treatment may be $300-$1,500+, and seasonal mosquito service may be $70-$150 per visit. Those are honest ranges, not bids.

Pests can come back. No page on this site should be read as a promise of eradication or any health outcome.

Using the site and making your own decision

You are responsible for how you use the information on ShieldNest. Our content is meant to help you ask better questions and compare options. It is not a substitute for an on-site evaluation by a licensed, state-certified pest control company.

Before you hire anyone, we strongly recommend that you:

  1. Verify the company’s license yourself with your state.
  2. Ask what pest they think you have and why.
  3. Get the price, treatment plan, and follow-up terms in writing before any work starts.
  4. Read product labels and ask about pesticide-safety steps around children, pets, and food.
  5. Ask whether lower-toxicity or eco options may fit your situation. You can read more in our pesticide safety guide and eco-friendly pest control guide.

If you are not sure what pest you are dealing with, start with our common pest ID guide.

How matching works and what you agree to

When you submit a form, you agree to provide accurate basic contact details and pest information so we can try to match you with participating pest control companies. Please do not submit financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, immigration information, or other sensitive records.

Our service is free to you. Participating pest control companies may pay ShieldNest a flat fee to receive a lead, but you choose who to contact, who to hire, or whether to hire anyone at all.

Submitting a request does not create a contract for treatment. It also does not guarantee that a company will accept the job, that service will be available in your area, or that any company will offer a particular price, timeline, or outcome.

If you want to compare your options carefully, our vet a pest control company guide can help.

Calls, texts, emails, and TCPA consent

If you ask to be matched, you are giving permission for ShieldNest and participating companies to contact you about your request using the contact information you provide. That may include:

  • phone calls
  • text messages
  • emails

By submitting your information, you agree that these contacts may be made using automated technology where allowed by law, for the purpose of responding to your pest-service request. Consent is not required to browse the site, but it is part of asking us to connect you with companies.

Message and data rates may apply based on your phone plan. If you do not want calls or texts, do not submit the request form. If a company contacts you and you want them to stop, tell them directly using the opt-out method they provide.

Safety, limits, and updates

Pesticide safety matters. If a company recommends treatment, make sure you understand any prep and re-entry instructions, keep kids, pets, and food safe, and follow all label directions and the company’s written guidance.

ShieldNest provides this site "as is." We try to keep information useful and current, but we cannot promise that every page is complete, available, or right for your exact situation. Laws, regulations, product labels, and pricing can change.

We may update these terms from time to time by posting a revised version on this page. If you continue using the site after changes are posted, that means you accept the updated terms.

In plain English

Use ShieldNest to learn the basics and compare local licensed companies, but make your own choice. Check the license yourself, get the plan and price in writing, and confirm pesticide-safety steps for children, pets, and food before any treatment.
